Wayfaring Racer is a single player kart racing game developed by Nine Nation Navy.

Wayfaring Racer is currently in development.

The first release will be version 1.0MSTONE (Milestone 1).

The release date is currently unknown.

Testing sessions will be held prior to this release.

How does Wayfaring Racer work?

(if you don't care about the technical stuff, skip to the next heading)

computer-controlled opponents are programmed to path-find around each track by casting invisible rays that detect checkpoints in front of them. Once a checkpoint is detected, the opponent moves towards it (an adjustment angle is applied so that opponent's don't just follow the same paths all the time).

The opponent can also detect the edge of the track and steer away from it, but can sometimes fall off the track. The opponent's decision to ignore the edge of the track or not will be random.

Once the pathfinding feature is complete and bug-free, a sample of opponents with random vehicle stats will be tested on each track and those that complete laps with the fastest times will have their stats crossed over with each other to create half of a new sample of opponents. The other half of the sample will be randomly generated again. The cycle then continues until an optimal opponent is created. The most optimal opponents will become the ones that the player faces during gameplay.

What's the final plan?

The final plan involves character and kart customisation plus a multitude of wacky tracks with surreal, natural or urban themes. Items MAY or MAY NOT be implemented. I haven't decided yet.
